Health, Safety & Environment
Continental Cartage Inc. (CCI) exceeds customers’ expectations in quality and safety, whether we are transporting goods over deserted ice roads 300 kilometres north of Yellowknife or over a congested bridge in New York City.
Providing customers with high quality customer service is the key to any successful organization. CCI strives to achieve a superior level of what we call our “customerized” solutions, and even in the case of extreme transportation solutions, our commitment to safety and quality is never sacrificed.
Our commitment to safety is focused on 2 areas:
- as safe and responsible users of the road / highway systems, and
- a safe and healthy work environment for our people.
CCI strongly believes in investing in all our employees from yard staff to dispatchers to drivers by offering continual education, coaching, and training—especially important given ever-changing and rapidly-expanding technology. Knowledgeable and experienced personnel promote safe practices and ensure a high quality customer experience.
Specifically, listed below are some safety initiatives and practices we have implemented:
- CCI does not work with old or outdated equipment. Our trucks and trailers are late-model and inspected regularly.
- We focus on communication. We always know where your shipment is, and can always be in touch with our drivers while they’re on the road.
- We have strict load securement practices. All drivers complete an orientation program with a heavy emphasis on proper load securement practices. Our drivers are re-educated on a regular basis, and we conduct mandatory road tests to confirm their knowledge and abilities.
- We run a safety incentive program that rewards drivers and staff who remain incident-free—giving our people an extra reason to stay safe.
- CCI was awarded a 2008 Worksafe Certificate of Achievement in Saskatchewan.
- CCI was awarded the 2005 Best Safety Performance Award from Workplace Alberta.
